My favorite pre-fall recipes 🍂

Happy September, Reader!

The mornings here have started cooling off, so fall feels like it's just around the corner. And while it's probably what we Californians like to call "false fall" with a future heatwave right around the corner... sometimes it's nice to pretend ;)

If you're looking to make it feel like fall in your kitchen, here are some of my favorite early fall bakes by flavor, starting with my newest recipe!

Early Fall Favorites

NEW: Brown sugar chai cookies! They're spiced to perfection with cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves, and they only take about 30 mins from start to your mouth finish.

Maple pecan granola gives you all the warm and fuzzy fall feelings, but you can eat it on cold yogurt in case the weather isn't quite cooperating with your fall dreams ;)

Apple season is coming, and I can't wait to make these mini Dutch apple pies with a spiced apple filling and buttery oat crumble again!

If you're still holding out for summer bakes, I recommend this cinnamon banana bread. It pairs familiar banana bread with a little cinnamon for a nice middle ground between summer and fall.

If you're planning out your fall baking, you can find all of the autumnal recipes on my website with my Recipe Filter set to fall.

I'm also sharing more chai-flavored recipes this month, so stay tuned!

Behind the Scenes

A row of puzzles at Costco.
A fabric toy mouse wearing a green dress.
A double chocolate chip cookie held by two hands.
  • We bought a car this week!! I've been driving a very faithful older Camry for the last five years (it still has a cassette player!), so this new car with screens and digital displays has been quite the adjustment lol. I'm loving it so far and am looking forward to all the road trips in our future 🛣️
  • It's puzzle season at Costco again! Puzzles are one of my favorite ways to spend evenings in the fall and winter, and Costco sells great ones for $10. I bought two already, but I haven't started either one 😅
  • ...because my new sewing hobby took over my puzzle table! I sewed this little toy mouse last month using a pattern from Sarah's Day Off and am really happy with how it turned out. I just gotta figure out where I'm gonna do my puzzles now—maybe a puzzle mat?
  • After not having them for two years due to high cocoa prices, Costco finally has their semi-sweet chocolate chips back in stock! I made a batch of my double chocolate chip cookies with them to celebrate 🍪

May all your mornings be appropriately chilly this month, making your morning cuppa that much more enjoyable ☕

Happy baking!
Alyssa

P.S. If you make any of these recipes, it would mean the world if you leave a review of how the recipe turned out! It goes a long way to let others know it's a tried and trusted recipe 💛

Happy October, Reader! Fall is officially here, and so are pumpkin bakes! ...along with the inevitable ¾ cup of leftover pumpkin that you put in your fridge with the best of intentions 😅 You can shuffle the can around in your fridge for the next three weeks, orrrr you can give it a second chance and make a pumpkin dessert this week to use it up! I've put a few of my favorite pumpkin recipes below. Each one uses one cup or less of pumpkin, so they're perfect for helping you use up that last...

A slice of honey almond cake on a plate

Hey, Reader! Summer is rapidly coming to an end, which means fall baking is just around the corner... 👀 But until then, I'm enjoying spending a little less time in the kitchen than usual—after all, it is still a million degrees outside! I've been making lower-effort meals and desserts the last few weeks, and I thought I'd share some of them with you. They're ideal for both holding onto the last bits of summer and getting back into the swing of school :) My Favorite Low-Fuss Recipes My newest...
