Recipes to welcome spring 🌼

Hey, Reader!

I'm not sure what it's like where you are, but it feels like spring here in California's Central Valley! The almond blossoms have come and gone, and I'm starting to plan this year's herb and vegetable garden.

If it's not feeling like spring yet, the following recipes may or may not help speed the change in weather along ;)

Recipes to Welcome Spring

Easter is coming up on April 5, and these lemon meringue macarons are my favorite kind of Easter egg. They look like a real egg when you bite into them, yolk and all!

These delicate lemon madeleines have a soft, cakey interior and a crisp, golden exterior with a little lemon glaze.

It's about time I make another batch of honey lavender syrup to add to my matcha and tea lattes!

You can make these lemon lavender macarons circular or use my free template for flower-shaped macarons! The best part is that you can use the template with any macaron shell recipe :)

I have more springy recipes on my website! You can find them easily by checking the "spring" box in the Recipe Filter :)

Behind the Scenes

A woman holding a chicken
A white camellia bush
Three camellia bushes in a Costco shopping cart
Three hummingbirds at a feeder
  • In early February, I spent a week in Texas visiting my brother and his family—including their chickens! After sneakily stalking chasing one around the coop, I picked this one up!
  • Unfortunately, I caught a bad case of flu on my way back home and wasn't able to do much for about three weeks 😅 It took most of my energy each day just to walk a few steps out the front door and see how my white camellia was blooming.
  • I'm finally feeling much better now! Last week, I took advantage of our Costco's pink camellia inventory and stocked up. I planted five bushes along our lawn last weekend, and I think the whole fence line should be filled with blooms around this time next year!
  • I've had hummingbird feeders up in the backyard for a couple years, but I'd never seen more than one feeding at a time. On my birthday, I saw three at one feeder!! That was a really nice gift :)

May the warmer days keep the flu germs far, far away from you.

Happy baking!
Alyssa

P.S. If you make any of these recipes, it would mean the world if you leave a review of how the recipe turned out! It goes a long way to let others know it's a tried and trusted recipe 💛

Happy almost Valentine's Day, Reader! When it comes to Valentine's Day, I feel like there are two kinds of recipes: The ones that make cute little hearts out of everything in shades of red and pink, and the ones that overload on chocolate. I love both, but I have more far more chocolate recipes than heart recipes on my website, so I guess that tells you where my preferences lie! Speaking of, did you know that you can add The Floral Apron as a preferred source on Google? You might have noticed...

A Linzer cookie in the form of a gingerbread man

Happy December, Reader! Every time I think of Christmas cookies, I think of the failed batch of gingerbread cookies that my mom and I made (rather, attempted to make) years ago. We made a handful of different cookies that year from a well-known magazine—including three-color pinwheels that turned out great!—but for some reason, the gingerbread dough turned into a literal brick in the fridge. We tried rolling it out, and it wouldn't budge at all. We thought letting it sit out might soften it....
